ASPECTOS AMBIENTAIS, FORENSES E DE SAÚDE PÚBLICA EM RELAÇÃO AO USO DE AGROTÓXICOS EM UM MUNICÍPIO DO ESTADO DE GOIÁS, BRASIL

Resumo

A utilização indiscriminada de agrotóxicos pode trazer uma série de consequências para a saúde pública e para o meio ambiente. Considerando-se a relevância do tema buscou-se verificar a situação de Itumbiara-GO em relação ao uso de agrotóxicos, através da pesquisa exploratória. O trabalho teve como objetivo levantar um diagnóstico do uso de agrotóxicos na região estudada e seus possíveis efeitos no ambiente, na saúde pública e na área forense. A pesquisa foi realizada por meio de entrevistas semiestruturadas feitas junto aos produtores rurais, profissionais da área de agropecuária e saúde, empresas relacionadas ao setor, estabelecimentos comerciais e entrevistas ao departamento de Polícia Civil. Obteve-se o levantamento dos agrotóxicos mais utilizados e a identificação do perfil relativo ao uso de agrotóxicos na cidade e região, principalmente daqueles utilizados nos cultivos de cana-de-açúcar e hortaliças. A análise da utilização de agrotóxicos na região aponta para a possibilidade de riscos à saúde e sinaliza para danos ambientais, associados ao uso incorreto dessas substâncias. Os principais relatos observados foram aqueles envolvendo queixas dos trabalhadores em relação à saúde, subnotificações, casos de suicídios e homicídios, além de morte de animais.

The indiscriminate use of pesticides can bring a number of consequences for public health and the environment. Considering the relevance of the subject, we tried to determine the status of Itumbiara-GO regarding the use of pesticides, through an exploratory research. The study aimed to lift a diagnosis of pesticide use in the study area and its possible effects on the environment, public health and forensics. The survey was conducted through semi-structured interviews with rural producers, professionals in agriculture and health-related sector companies, commercial establishments and the civilian police department. We have obtained the survey of the most used pesticides and identified profile of use of pesticides in the city and region, especially those used in the cultivation of sugar cane and vegetables. The analysis of the use of pesticides in the region points to the possibility of health risks and environmental damage signals associated with the incorrect use of these substances. The main reports observed were those involving worker complaints regarding health, underreporting, suicide cases and homicides, and death of animals.
